Hi, I’m Jennifer Clifford — the artist behind Adventures in Collage, a fine art and paper + gift company based in San Francisco, California. My travel-inspired artwork and accessories are created for those who love to explore, seek out meaningful experiences, and collect memories — whether close to home or across the globe.

A avid world traveler and former interior designer, I discovered my passion for collage art by blending the keepsakes I gathered on my journeys — maps, ticket stubs, handwritten notes — with the vibrant wallpapers and textiles I once used in design. Since 2013, I’ve been a full-time artist, turning these stories and scraps into layered, expressive pieces.

Each original collage is handmade in my North Beach studio, then scanned and digitally edited to create a collection of elevated art prints and thoughtful gifts that celebrate beauty, place, and personal narrative.

Artist Statement

My reference photos often inspire my current work—sometimes just one, sometimes several combined into a single image. While the imagery feels grounded in real places, the scenes I create often don’t actually exist—they’re dreamlike composites that blend memory, nature, and imagination.

Much of my inspiration comes from travel, the natural world, and the quiet poetry of everyday life. I’m drawn to places that evoke a sense of nostalgia or wonder—scenes that feel both familiar and just out of reach. Through collage, I piece together emotional landscapes where memory and place blur.

I like to think of my approach to art as mirroring the way I live: scrappy, creative, and full of resourcefulness. I give new life to discarded materials, finding beauty in the overlooked or forgotten. Each piece begins with a loose vision of a place or feeling, but it evolves intuitively—altered paper over altered paper, layer by layer, adding, subtracting, and rearranging—until the composition clicks. I do more of what brings me joy and let go of what doesn’t. My process is imperfect, exploratory, and full of surprises—just like life.
